Arrabawn dairies had no onsite treatment process and therefore were removing and disposing large volumes of wastewater via tankers at a significant cost. They were looking for an on-site solution that met their stringent discharge requirements, but in a cost-effective manner. This meant finding a solution that had a high treatment efficacy but had a significantly lower operational expense than the existing commercially available systems.
Arrabawn chose our Ambirobic® process. This gave them significant capital expenditure savings against alternative processes, but also gave them ongoing operational cost savings providing them with an excellent return on investment. This is because our Ambirobic® process features a specially adapted granular sludge that enables psychrophilic (cold) anaerobic digestion. Arrabawn saved money because our system requires very little energy to operate; there is no aeration, and no heating is required. Further savings were realised as Ambirobic® dramatically reduces sludge production, requires little operator interface and maintenance, and produces biogas. The allowed Arrabawn to generate green energy on site to off-set their energy demands.
The Ambirobic® process at Arrabawn reduced the 1000-3000mg/l COD/BOD load by up to 90%, all at ambient temperatures. This provided Arrabawn with a high-quality effluent that was within its discharge license requirements, and significant savings as a result with minimal operational expense.
Ambirobic® can be tailored to meet each site’s needs. We consider all aspects of the waste stream and flow demands to provide an optimal Ambirobic® solution. With high flow demands we can fabricate large tanks on site, or use several smaller tanks operated in tandem.
